Clear Correct Aligners by Straumann are an orthodontic treatment used to straighten teeth without the use of the typical metal braces. It uses a series removable, and nearly invisible aligners that are custom-made specifically for your teeth. Clear Correct has quickly revolutionized the orthodontics world- patients now have a more discreet alternative to bulky metal braces.
What can I expect?
Every case is unique, and therefore your clear aligner journey may be different from others. During the consultation and planning phase, we will look at all your options and together make decisions that best suit your needs and lifestyle.
First Appointment
At the first consultation, we will discuss your concerns and how these may fit into a comprehensive treatment plan. We will also assess your medical and dental health. Next, we make treatment proposals based on your needs. Once you agree to the plan, we proceed with additional planning and diagnostic procedures. These include photographs and a digital intra-oral scan. We then send off these files to the Straumann lab where they will create your custom aligners.
Second Appointment
During this appointment, we clean your teeth and possibly place tooth-coloured anchors on some teeth. Next, we place your first aligner, making sure it fits properly and comfortably. You will need to visit the practice every 2-4 weeks to receive the next phase of aligners. This schedule is usually very flexible and differs from case to case. Treatment times range from 3 to 18 months, depending on the amount of tooth movement needed.
Third Appointment
Although your case is planned from start to finish, we still have to monitor your progress very carefully. Each case is different, and we often make small, unplanned changes to enhance tooth movement and improve the end result. At your last appointment, we remove any resin from your teeth, and you will also receive a full polish. Many patients opt to have teeth whitening treatment done at this time, but that is completely up to you.
Additional appointments
Complex cases often involve a longer prosthetic healing and planning phase. Our goal during additional appointments is to create a functional temporary prosthesis before converting it to a final product.
