Extractions

Are you experiencing severe tooth pain? Does the pain get worse when you bite or chew? Do your gums feel sensitive and swollen? Chances are, you may need a tooth extraction. At our practice, we do our very best to preserve your natural teeth, but sometimes an extraction is necessary.

In many cases, we can restore teeth that are damaged or broken by decay with a crown, filling, or other dental treatment. Sometimes, though, the tooth is too damaged to repair, so we recommend extraction. Other times, you may have a wisdom tooth that is causing you too much pain.

We know that getting a tooth extraction can feel very daunting, and it may trigger some anxiety, which is why we go out of our way to make you feel relaxed and comfortable during your treatment. You can rest assured, knowing that your mental and emotional wellbeing is being considered, along with your dental health.

What to expect

Preparation

Before a tooth is removed, the team at Redefine Dental will thoroughly review your medical and dental history and take the appropriate X-rays. The X-rays reveal the shape, length, and position of the tooth and bone. From this information, we determine the degree of difficulty of the procedure and decide what type of extraction is best.

For our procedures, we have combined simple, innovative ideas like noise-cancelling earphones and ambient lighting to make you feel more at ease. Many patients have a fear of injections, which is why we use painless local injections administered by a trained specialist.

Types of extractions

Simple extraction

We perform simple extractions on a tooth that can be seen in the mouth. During a simple extraction, we will numb the tooth and gum tissue and loosen the tooth before removing it with dental forceps.

Surgical extraction

A surgical extraction is more complex than a simple extraction. Surgical extractions are used for a tooth that may have broken off at the gumline or an impacted wisdom tooth. During a surgical extraction, Dr Nikhael Turalam will make a small incision into your gum and remove the underlying tooth.

At Redefine Dental, you receive the highest standard of dental care in a modern, gorgeous space with a variety of amenities available to ensure your comfort and satisfaction.
